About Anne
Anne is an exciting contemporary artist who was born in Ealing, UK, in 1941 and grew up in the New Forest.
A mainly
self taught artist who excelled in this subject at school, Anne went on to complete a Professional Development Course in Fine
Art at the Kent Institute of Art and Design, and now has realised her ambition to become a professional artist with clients in the UK, Portugal, Corsica and as far afield as South Africa.
‘Colours and patterns are what excite me. In my work they
are both inspiration and tools; i.e. in painting I focus on the
pattern element and distort colours to create an effect that pleases
me. I am also inspired by the idea of conveying a mood or a particular
thought’.
Her pictures are abstract and semi abstract and she enjoys experimenting
with different ideas and techniques. She usually paints with gouache
and acrylics, liking the evenness and opaqueness of the gouache
and the fun of having waterproof layers in the acrylic. For many
years she has used collage in her work. She has used various papers
and now uses scraps of thread and fabric, and also sequins and glitter,
in fact anything that takes her fancy. A recent experiment was collaging
mount board, which has given some of her work a raised aspect. Use
of polyfiller and other texture mediums have added to this. In some
other pictures she has used specially textured fabrics extensively,
including lace.
